As a follow up to this wonderful lesson plan, whether you teach business, general, or academic English, is to have your students fill out their own CV or write up a resume. I use this with my students when they first join university. Besides the value of going through the actual process with its lexical terms, students become aware of what they need to include in a CV, to plan their activites in the four years of university to be able to compile a proper CV, for example extra-curricullar activities, community service, and computer skills. One other valuable lesson they learn is that they need to add variey to want they do or like to do, that the job market has specific demands, and that out there competition is fierce. Hence, this activity links language and a practical, functional use of English. Rania
